Printed Electronics Technician – 2nd Shift
DuraTech Industries is a growing global Printing Manufacturer located in La Crosse, Wisconsin. We have been manufacturing labels, overlays and metal nameplates for a variety of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the automotive, computer, electronics, industrial and medical markets for the past 45 years. We are looking for a Printed Electronics Technicians to join our team on 2nd shift! The Printed Electronics Technician is directly involved in all aspects of printed electronics assembly and test production. This includes programing and running automated production equipment as needed.
  • Programs, operates and trouble shoots all Printed Electronics Department automated equipment. Pick N Place, dispenser, Flex Laser, Thompson Die Press.
  • Sets-up and operates Flex Laminator.
  • Applies encapsulant over SMD components.
  • Hand applies individual switch layers, insulating tape, overlays to circuit pack layer and membrane switch to subpanel when required.
  • Crimps and applies housings of terminal pins using Manual, Auto or Berg Crimper when needed.
  • Follows industry standard ESD protocol.
  • Tests circuit electrical function using a Mistral Keypad Tester.
  • Packages finished product in a manner to prevent damage in shipping.
  • Verifies product conformance to customer specification.
 Ideal candidates will bring:
  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Experience with small hand tools preferred.
  • Experience with operating various types of manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Experience in electrical troubleshooting preferred.
Skills and abilities crucial to success in this role:
  • Mathematics background with proficiency in algebra and geometry.
  • Computer skills necessary to create formulas and calculations in Excel.
  • Ability to demonstrate fine motor skills necessary for small electrical component placement and assembly.
  • Ability to program manufacturing equipment using x, y, z coordinates; work proficiently in Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, switch maps, diagrams and engineering drawings.

Process Planner – 1st Shift

The Process Planner estimates the cost of manufacturing customer products and prepares a manufacturing plan for production. This includes reviewing customer blue prints and specifications, determining the most cost effective layout, utilizing costing formulas to determine price and working with the internal process to prepare the layout and instructions for the manufacturing plan. Lean methods are practiced to achieve process improvement in the department. Assessment of Customer Specifications
  • Reviews external customer documents (prints, samples, any written specifications) for requirements.
  • Determines if required information is complete, if not, obtains any additional required information.
  • Assesses raw material, ink, tooling, and processes required to manufacture the customer product.
  • Determines if product can be manufactured completely in house, or if some jobs will need to be outsourced.
  • Ability to maintain a neat and organized work area so others can easily access files and documentation when required.
Cost Estimation
  • Determines cost for raw material, ink, tooling, and any special services.
  • Utilizes costing formulas and tools to create a pricing structure for customer product.
  • Reviews pricing for errors, possible required additions and/or discounts.
  • Determines unit price for each unit of measure required by the customer and documents determined pricing in the internal database in a timely manner.
  • Prepares an estimate of manufacturing costs and communicates the quote to the customer.
  • Reviews documents for cost savings alternatives.
Preparation of Manufacturing Plan for Production
  • Reviews internal production capabilities and processes used for manufacturing customer products.
  • Determines if capabilities and/or processes have improved or changed since the time of cost estimate.
  • Makes any necessary changes to the rough draft manufacturing plan and/or cost estimation.
  • Prepares the manufacturing plan for production of the customer products.
  • Determines most efficient manufacturing layout for customer products.
Ideal Candidates will have:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One to three years’ experience with screen printing manufacturing processes required.
 Skills and abilities crucial to success in this role:
  • Knowledge in mathematics with proficiency in algebra and geometry.

Project Manager

The Project Manager coordinates, tracks and manages assigned high risk or otherwise high impact projects and prototype orders from initiation or release through successful completion or start-up production within given deadline.
  • Assesses customer requirements and determines most efficient and cost effective manner of manufacture. Assures that production process is either supported by internal manufacturing or available as an outsourced service.
  • Creates a Bill of Materials (BOM) for the project for cost estimating. In some cases, completes the estimate and reviews for competitiveness; searches for lower cost alternatives and, if possible, recommends cost savings methods.
  • For selected programs, provides project management leadership and direction. Coordinates, tracks, and manages prototype or PPAP production runs. Continuously monitors engineering and program changes to insure that such changes are cost effective, implemented according to an appropriate timeline, and approved by customer prior to beginning production.
  • Interacts directly with key personnel, including company, customer, salesperson, and supplier, to establish and maintain project/prototype order schedules and deliveries.
  • Ensures that manufacturing is well informed as to program expectations, that all required production documentation is thorough and complete, and that manufacturing is ready to assume full responsibility for the program.
  • Assists production areas in any way necessary for a smooth and stable transfer of the program to manufacturing.
 Must haves:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years project management experience required.
  • Experience in screen printing or related industry is preferred.

Research & Development Technician

  • Operates printing press; inspects product regularly during R&D press run, making mechanical and/or ink adjustments as required.
  • Performs testing on printed product, materials, ink, etc. as requested to verify feasibility of meeting process and customer specifications and requirements.
  • Documents analysis and testing completed for R&D and product improvement and/or development projects.
  • Maintains press area cleanliness and properly cleans up equipment used during printing operations.
 Must haves:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years project management experience required.
  • Experience in screen printing or related industry is preferred.
Skills and abilities crucial to success in this role:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in screen printing or related industry is preferred.
  • Experience operating printing presses or other manufacturing equipment preferred.
Shipping Clerk – 1st Shift

The Shipping Clerk locates, packs, weighs, ships and tracks orders for customers. Also, creates appropriate documentation for shipments.
  • Assembles containers as required according to the customer order and the carrier.
  • Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
  • Binds containers with tape, shrink wrap, strapping or other available material and ensures paperwork is accurate and visible.
  • Counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bill of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Affixes appropriate labels on packed cartons identifying shipping information, using available equipment and customer specifications.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Operates appropriate equipment to move, convey or hoist pallets/boxes.
 Must haves:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a shipping area of a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with UPS and FedEx shipping systems preferred.
 Skills and abilities crucial to success in this role:
  • Professional and courteous verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to become certified as a forklift operator.
  • Ability to work proficiently in Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Ability to learn quickly and become proficient with in-house software applications as well as shipping applications.
